Let's Brag On Each Other!
I've thought a lot about what I would like to do differently in 2013. I'm sure you have too. Life gets so busy and we put so much on our plates (me included) that we lose sight of what's going on around us. I really want to make a point to make other's feel special this year. Sometimes as teachers we don't always hear the "Thank You" or "Great Job" because we are all running around like hamsters in a wheel. For me, I notice all kinds of great things going on around me but yet I don't always stop and tell that person. Let's make this year of "Bragging On Each Other".
I have to say that I love the school that I work at, and we are always trying to find ways to highlight something about someone else, even if it is little. Even on your worst day it is nice to see or hear a nice comment. So this year my school put up a "Brag Board". All month long we write special notes to each other and then our admin takes a picture and puts it on her Admin Blog. I love that. It hangs on the wall by our mailboxes which makes it very easy to go by and read.
So what about you? How can you implement somthing like this in your classroom or school?

What a great idea not to mention the black board and coloured markers match my classroom colours!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you. :) My school loves it.
DeleteLove this idea! We do a caring colleagues box that the principal reads 4 notes at each staff meeting and those 4 teachers get sonic drinks!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just think that makes such a difference? What a great idea. I'm sure your coworkers love it.
DeleteThis is adorable! I love it. We do praise notes, but this is much more colorful and fun. :) Just pinned it to! Yay!

Awe...thank you! Thanks for pinning it for me too. :)
DeleteYou are so right- this is a powerful way to build relationships in your school and classroom. We did something similar in our staff lounge (come check it out: http://alwaysalesson.com/2012/10/06/staff-brag-board/)
ReplyDeleteAlways A Lesson
We did comment cards in our classroom after reading The Lemonade War. It really forced the kids to think about appreciating everybody in the room. (A character in the Lemonade War describes a class activity like this.) It is such a good way to make everyone recognize something special about another person. I like the faculty recognizing each other even better! Caitlin (www.the-room-mom.com) Lemonade War unit is in my TpT store (http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Theroommom).
