New Teacher Advice

I am linking up with Deb Thomas from  Fabulously First to spread some great advice to new teachers. I loved this idea! I can remember having my first teaching job and feeling like a deer in headlights! I thought I knew it all (at least I pretended I did). I've learned a lot over the past few years. I am now starting my 15th year of teaching so I thought I would sum up my advice with the following:

The 4 "Be's" For a New Teacher

Be Flexible....most days will not go as planned...most days you will not get everything in.

Be Able To Take Advice....Don't be the know it all that won't listen...smile, listen, & be polite.
(You don't have to actually follow the advice).

Be A Sponge...Soak in every bit of knowledge from those around you...learn from those more experienced and tweak to your own style...pair yourself up with someone and learn, learn, learn. There's nothing better than teaming up.

BE ON TIME!... Don't make a bad image by being late for work, meetings (including team meetings). Being late is the quickest way to get on "The List"...if you know what I mean.

  11. OMG! Be on time!! Such a huge issue in my school. It is so important because one teacher being late has a trickle down effect!
