Goldie Locks Has The Chicken Pox
I know many of us read a variety of fairy tales to our kids during the year. Most grade levels have students compare and contrast different versions of the same fairy tale. Students love it! Well, here is another spin on Goldie Locks that maybe you haven't read. This book is called Goldie Locks Has The Chicken Pox by Erin Dealy. It is the cutest book that reads like a nursery rhyme and the illustrations look like cartoons from the 1950's. Poor Goldie Locks finds out she has the chicken pox and is sad because she can't go out and play. Her little brother has fun teasing her but later realizes teasing doesn't always pay off. You'll want to read the book to find out how it ends. :) Some of our favorite characters such as Henny Penny, Jack, Little Bo Peep, and the Little Red Hen pop in at different parts of the story offering a natural connection to some beloved fairy tale stories we've often read before. This is a great addition to your classroom read alouds or library.
